Striker Alberth Elis, 28 years old, is close to signing with Vasco da Gama. Despite the financial difficulties off the field, the Cruzmaltina board wants to raise the technical level of the squad for the 2025 season.
According to information from the “RTI Esporte” website, one of the conditions for Alberth Elis to sign with Vasco is a three-year contract, that is, until the end of 2027. The expectation is for an agreement to be reached in the coming weeks, so that the athlete can perform the pre-season with Gigante da Colina.

Who is Alberth Elis
Born in San Pedro Sula, in Honduras, Elis started in local football, defending the colors of CD Olimpia, a club where he played in the youth team and became a professional in 2013. In his last season in football in Honduras, in 2015/16, he performed impressively 21 goals in 38 games and caught the attention of Monterrey, from Mexico.
He made no more than five appearances for the club and moved to Houston Dynamo in the United States on loan. The quick adaptation to North American football resulted in a permanent transfer. In total, he played for Dynamo for 99 matches, with 35 goals and 23 assists.
In the 2020/21 season, he moved to Boavista, from Portugal, with a brief spell: 32 games, eight goals and seven assists. He then went to French football, first to Bordeaux (38 matches, ten goals and two assists) and Brest, his last club, with 30 matches, five goals and two assists. He has been without a club since July 31st.
A curiosity is Alberth’s nickname, ‘Panterita’, in reference to the idol Donizete Panter, Libertadores champion with Vasco in 1998.
For the Honduras national team, he competed in four editions of the Gold Cup, the 2016 Rio Olympics, in addition to two youth world championships, the under-20 (2015) and under-17 (2013). He only has one title in his career, the 2018 US Open Cup, won by Houston Dynamo.

Physically strong and a sprinter, Alberth Elis is right-handed and is characterized by good positioning to finish – or leave his teammates in good condition.
The athlete has a history of recent injuries that hampered his career at the clubs he played for. In the most recent season, 2023/24, he suffered an arm injury and was out for almost two months. Then, he suffered a head injury that led to a coma and took him off the field for more than 280 days.
