The country singer Gustavo Moura, 36, fiancé of presenter Silvia Abravanel, 53, told about a conversation he had with Silvio Santos that left him surprised by the extent of his humility that the presenter had, despite his great importance for Brazilian communication.
Exclusively to CNNhe started the story by saying that “we were on his 92nd birthday talking to the [Alexandre] Pato [marido de Patrícia Abravanel] on some football topics. He left the room, I followed, but he [me chamou] saying ‘hey, hey’.”
he said that the communicator asked for a private conversation with him and questioned him about the television programs on his broadcaster, SBT, which were dedicated to country music.
The singer joked, saying that he knew that his father-in-law watched all of the channel’s programming, but pretended not to so as not to make the presenters nervous.
When he responded that there was nothing similar being broadcast, Silvio gave him a recommendation: “Go to SBT tomorrow. People won’t believe you much, but you can tell me to call.”
Gustavo said that he was already going to SBT programs to make presentations and promote the work of his country duo, but was surprised by the attitude of the station owner.
“He saw me there, a boy struggling with his career, starting a dream of many years […] and said ‘I want to help you because I already started a career one day and I know how much we need people to help us”, he told CNN.
In addition to this moment, the singer commented that he once asked Silvio if he knew of his importance for the Brazilian people and for the development of the country’s media.
“He replied: ‘I don’t have it because I do my job, I go there to have fun and I’m happy that people like me, but I don’t have that dimension.’”
And Gustavo concluded: “He was a very different human being, he had a great spirituality — greater than us — and in the moments I was with him, we had great conversations. For me, it was very important and left a lot in my heart, but a great message from a resilient and very humble person.”
