Neighbors smell a strong odor and find the body of an elderly man in a state of decomposition in a residence

Elderly Manoel Severiano da Rocha, aged 72, was found in a state of decomposition on Monday morning (9), inside a residence located on Rua Benjamin Constant, in the Novo Calafate neighborhood, in Rio Branco.

According to information from witnesses, the body was discovered by neighbors who, upon smelling a strong odor, went to the residence and found Manoel in a state of decomposition, having been dead for around three days. Residents quickly called Copom and reported the facts to the police authorities.

Following the complaint, military police officers from the 1st Battalion went to the indicated location and requested the presence of criminal experts and agents from the Legal Medical Institute (IML).

The area was isolated by the military, and forensic experts carried out procedures at the site, finding that the victim had been dead for a few days. Preliminary information indicates that there was a fan near the bed, which caught fire.

The body was rescued and sent to the Rio Branco IML, where cadaveric examinations will be carried out to determine the causes of death, apparently due to violence.

Civil Police agents from the Ready Employment Team (EPE) collected the first information. The case will be investigated by the Homicide and Personal Protection Police Department (DHPP).
