At risk of losing his position after being publicly criticized by the president, the minister (PT), of Secom (Secretariat of Communication), stated this Monday (9) that he naturally sees the possibility of being replaced, since he holds a trust function.
“If, at a certain moment, he thinks that there needs to be a more acute change that eventually involves my replacement, I see it absolutely naturally. The president knows that he will always be able to count on me. Regardless of whether I have a position or function of the ministry or any other task he may assign me”, stated the minister, after a conversation with Lula.
Using the comparison with the lineup of a football team, with Lula as the coach, Pimenta admitted the possibility of being on the bench. “I’m aware and I see this in a very, very calm way. The president assigns the position in which each one will play and, if he needs to leave someone on the bench for a while, we stay on the bench. We are part of the same project. The decision-making power belongs to the one who will be most charged. He is the one responsible for all of this.”
When asked if he felt affected or bothered by having Pimenta, he said he doesn’t have those feelings. “The president is a person who is very authentic, he makes sure people know what he thinks and he feels very comfortable making these speeches in the environment of comrades and companions that is the . So, I don’t feel that way There’s no such thing as touching or exposing him. There’s no such thing as sensitiveness in my relationship with him, nor is he with me,” he said.
When answering whether he recognized any error at the head of the department, Pimenta stated that he had learned the importance of knowing how to increasingly use the president as the main communicator.
On Friday (6), Lula said that “there is a government error in the matter of communication” and that he will be forced to “make the necessary corrections”.
Regarding the hypothesis of being replaced by Pimenta, he argued that he should be close to the government, as the president has said. According to allies, Lula has pointed out, in conversations, the need to have Sidônio close by.
“Sidônio is an extremely qualified person, someone close to the president, trustworthy. I also trust him a lot and know his ability. I think the closer he is to the president, the more he helps”, he praised.
According to these allies, Lula has already admitted to Pimenta the possibility of him being replaced in the position. But he highlighted the intention of having him close by. Members of the government took Lula to the suggestion that Pimenta be leader of the government or of the PT deputy bench.
Another wing has suggested that Pimenta assume the General Secretariat of the Presidency, replacing Márcio Macêdo (PT). But this vacancy can be reserved for (PT), from Institutional Relations, if he is replaced by someone appointed from the center.
