Federal government formalizes agreements to modernize state-owned companies

The federal government announced, this Tuesday (17), the formalization of five Technical Cooperation Agreements. This initiative is part of the Governance and Modernization Program for State Companies (Inova). The Minister of Management and Innovation in Public Services, Esther Dweck, highlighted that the signing of these agreements marks the “first step” of the program. Among other points, Inova foresees partnerships for “business remodeling of state-owned companies that face sustainability challenges”, according to MGI. The agreements were drawn up after a dialogue process with companies, which began in 2023, according to Elisa Leonel, Secretary of Coordination and Governance of State Companies.

In practice, it will affect companies that need resources from the National Treasury to close their accounts. The cooperation agreements involved several ministries and companies. From the energy sector, in addition to the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), the Brazilian Energy Participation Company (ENBPar), Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil (INB), Eletronuclear, Nuclebrás Equipamentos Pesados ​​SA (Nuclep) also signed.

The Ministry of Communications and Telebras also signed agreements; the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI) with the National Center for Advanced Electronic Technology (Ceitec); the Ministry of Defense (MD) with the Brazilian War Materials Industry (Imbel); and the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA) with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Companhia de Entrepostos e Armazéns Gerais de São Paulo (Ceagesp), Companhia de Armazéns e Silos de Minas Gerais (CeasaMinas) and Companhia Nacional de Supply (Conab).
