Lanolin, as we are talking about it, has a long history, dating back to ancient Egypt, where it was used to protect the skin from the desert sun. In the 19th century, it began to be used as a base for medical ointments due to its moisturizing and regenerating properties. Today, lanolin is widely used in modern cosmetics, such as creams, lipsticks and hair conditioners.
Lanolin is a natural wax that comes from sheep’s wool. It is a substance that sheep produce to protect their skin from rain, cold and wind. It has a similar effect on our skin – moisturizes, softens and protects against moisture loss. From a chemical point of view, lanolin is a mixture of esters, alcohols and fatty acids. Thanks to this, it resembles the lipids present in our skin, which makes it exceptionally well tolerated even by sensitive people.

Products with lanolin are more convenient to apply, but their effect depends on the concentration of this ingredient. If you prefer ecological solutions, you can use organic versions of lanolin. The final choice depends on our needs – pure lanolin will ensure intensive regeneration, and enriched formulas may be more practical for everyday use.
