Palmeiras captain didn’t say that fans are spoiled – 12/17/2024 – Sports

Palmeiras captain Gustavo Gómez, 31, did not say at a press conference that his club’s fans are “spoiled and whiny”, contrary to what the viral post claims. He also did not praise the fans of rival Corinthians or make comparisons between Palmeiras and Corinthians.

A video with the athlete’s alleged statements, viewed more than 303.4 thousand times on of the content. The video was recorded on December 8, when the Paraguayan defender spoke to journalists after winning the silver medal in the Brazilian Championship.

In the original audio of the recording, Gómez commented on the boos from the fans after the 1-0 defeat against Fluminense. “The fans, like us, are used to winning. Since 2018, I think we’ve already won 12 or 13 titles. It’s really crazy, but that’s normal,” he said. At no point did he say that fans would be spoiled or whiny.

This is not the first time that disinformers have simulated statements from football players at press conferences. In June, Folha showed that Raphinha, a striker for Barcelona and the Brazilian national team, was also the victim of misleading montages.
