The death toll will be “much higher than they hear”, warns the future US president – who will speak with Putin and Zelenskyy.
The President-elect of the USA, Donald Trump, said this Monday that will talk with Russian presidents, Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, aiming to end the “carnage” of the war in Ukraine.
“We will talk to President Putin and we will talk to Zelensky and representatives of Ukraine. We have to stop this, it is carnage. It is the worst carnage this world has seen since World War II,” Trump said in a statement to reporters at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
“A large part of this territory… When you look at what happened… There are cities that don’t have a single building standing. It’s a demolition site. People can’t go back to these cities, there’s nothing left. Just wreckage”, commented the future North American President.
And, regarding the wreckage, Trump recalled that many people lived in the buildings that were completely destroyed. Therefore, warn: “The death toll in Ukraine will be much higher than what they hear”.
Donald Trump said that saw photographs that left him touched: “I saw photos of fields of bodies piled up. They look like photographs from the Civil War (USA, 19th century) with corpses for everything apart. If they saw these photographs, they would be more moved. This has to stop”, he reinforced.
The future president criticized the current president, Joe Biden, for having Ukraine attack Russia with long-range US missiles: “It was very bad, it was a serious mistake” – and admitted that he can reverse this decision when he takes office in January, because it was “great stupidity”.
Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to end the conflict, without explaining how he intends to proceed, only assuring that Ukraine should expect less help from Washington.
European allies and Kiev fear that Trump could force Kiev into significant concessions, which would effectively hand a geopolitical and military victory to Vladimir Putin.
