A plate with gingerbread in various shapes looks great on the Christmas Eve table. These cookies can also be used as Christmas tree decorations when hung between colorful baubles. Finally, don’t forget to decorate them with icing, which will make them even tastier and prettier. To make it perfect, it is worth adding… raspberry juice.
The main ingredient of the icing is, of course, powdered sugar. However, be careful that it does not have any lumps. Each of us probably has the remaining products in our kitchen, so there is no need to go to the store.
What ingredients do we need to make the perfect gingerbread icing? Here is the exact list:
- 500 g of powdered sugar;
- 5 tablespoons of water;
- 3.5 tablespoons of lemon juice;
- 3.5 tablespoons of natural raspberry juice.
The raspberry juice will make the frosting smooth delicately fruity flavor and appropriate consistency. That’s why it’s worth decorating cookies with such sweet mass.
To make a tasty and thick icing for gingerbread, for starters we need to sift powdered sugar into a bowl and add water and lemon juice.
Mix these three ingredients vigorously until a smooth and uniform mass is created. Only then do we add raspberry juice. Some people also add a bit of turmeric and food coloring to give the cookies a little color.
Mix the icing again. If it is too thin, you can add some sifted powdered sugar. When it is thick enough, only then can we start decorating the gingerbread.
Decorate the cookies with sweet filling, e.g. using a syringe. We can also use a kitchen syringe or a baking bag. To do this, we fill it with icing, make a small hole and squeeze the filling, creating various patterns on these small baked goods.
The icing prepared in this way will also work well on other Christmas baked goods. You can successfully decorate with it poppy seed cake or fruit cake. Many people bake muffins for the holidays, which also taste great when covered with this sweet filling.
