The singer Roberto Carlos83, declared himself to his wife, Maria Rita, what died exactly 25 years ago this Thursday (19).
In an Instagram post, he wrote: “First lady of my life, my great love/ From our home, little world of a dreamer/ I am someone you have and who loves you/ And so you are my first lady/ PRIMEIRA DAMA”, making reference to his own song, “Primeira Dama”, released in 1991.
Maria Rita died on December 19, 1999, at the age of 38, after complications caused by uterine cancer. The two got together in 1991 and got married in 1996.
Since becoming a widower, he has not publicly committed any more romances.
The traditional show Roberto Carlos’ end of year special, which this year has a 50th anniversary edition, in São Paulo, will air this Friday (20).
