Paris
Paris, Amsterdam and Luanda are at the top of the preferences of Portuguese people traveling during this festive season.
O Natal It is synonymous with a party, with family, with a special dinner, with gifts, with meeting people we haven’t seen in a while. It is synonymous with home, with “warm”, with a closed environment.
But not everyone looks at Christmas that way. For many Portuguese, Christmas (and New Year) is a time of travel.
eDreams, an online travel agency, analyzed its data relating to travel this festive season, more specifically between December 20th and January 1st.
In a statement sent to ZAP, it is read that Paris (once again) it is the favorite destination to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Amsterdam occupies second place, followed by Luanda, that completes the podium, in this order.
Still in the top 10 are: Geneva, Zurich, Luxembourg, Barcelona, London, Funchal and Madrid.
In other words, among the 10 favorite destinations of the Portuguese, there is one in Portugal: Funchal. None are in mainland Portugal.
But there is a point that connects several cities on the list: communities significant of Portuguese emigrants. Portuguese people who live in Portugal reunite with their family, for example in Luanda, Geneva, Zurich or Luxembourg. Besides Paris, of course.
Luxembourg (+92%) and Rome (+88%) were the cities that recorded the biggest increase in bookings compared to the same period last year.
Conversely, those who visit Portugal come mostly from France (33%) and Germany (14%); they go mainly to Lisbon, Porto and Funchal.
