The police accused 34-year-old Ján Š. and 41-year-old Róbert N. for the crime of theft committed as an accomplice. They stole a courier’s car with goods worth approximately 45,000 euros. TASR was informed about this by Bratislava regional police spokeswoman Jana Šimunková, saying that the investigator had processed a proposal for custodial prosecution of the accused.
“On the basis of the information provided, the police officers immediately began moving along the route of the escaping vehicle, which was stolen from the courier while he was unloading shipments into a delivery box in one of the villages in the Pezinok district. The stolen vehicle was supposed to be accompanied by another vehicle. Police patrols found a stolen courier vehicle near Slovenský Grob,” she explained.
The police then began to search the surroundings of Croatian Grob and after a while they spotted two vehicles. “They crossed their path with an official road vehicle. Subsequently, after stopping them, the police also found stolen packages. At the same time, it was discovered that the male suspects had already transported part of the packages to one of the family houses,” added the spokeswoman.
According to her, the patrol found out that the car in which the accused escaped is being searched and its driver is banned from driving motor vehicles until November 2029. “The second suspect was subjected to an orientation drug test which resulted in a positive result for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” she stated.
The men were subsequently restricted in their personal freedom, and then charged. “Subsequently, as part of the investigation, a house search was carried out, during which another part of the stolen packages was seized. (…) By their actions, the accused caused damage in the amount of 21,000 euros by stealing the vehicle and damage in the amount of approximately 45,000 euros by stealing the goods” added Šimunková.
