Two accidents in one day: Traffic accidents in the Trenčín region claimed two lives

Two human lives were claimed on Saturday (May 30) by tragic traffic accidents in the Trenčín Self-Governing Region (TSK). A cyclist died in the Považská Bystrica district, a pedestrian died near Beck. Trenčín regional police spokeswoman Ingrid Krajčíková informed about it.

“A 67-year-old cyclist lost his life in the Považská Bystrica district. The man was riding an electric bicycle on a local road without a protective helmet. He fell off the bicycle while going down a hill in a bend for reasons that have not yet been determined. He suffered serious injuries during the fall and died on the spot,” spokeswoman zoomed in.

The second accident happened on road II/507 near the village of Beckov in the district of Nové Mesto nad Váhom. The driver of the Cupra vehicle was driving in the direction from Nové Mesto nad Váhom to Trenčín. A truck was entering the road from a meadow by the road, from behind which a 35-year-old pedestrian suddenly entered the roadway, who was crossing the road at the spot. Despite the driver’s efforts to avoid a collision, the vehicle collided with a pedestrian. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the accident.

The driver of the Cupra was tested for alcohol and drugs, both of which were negative. During the documentation of the traffic accident, road II/507 was completely closed and traffic was diverted via the D1 highway and road I/61.

As she added, in both cases, the police initiated criminal prosecution for the offense of manslaughter. The exact causes, circumstances and degree of culpability of both traffic accidents are subject to further investigation. An autopsy was ordered for the 67-year-old cyclist and the 35-year-old pedestrian, during which the presence of alcohol or other addictive substances will also be determined.
