Many of us can no longer imagine working without this appliance. Especially during Christmas cleaning, a dishwasher is invaluable. However, it sometimes happens that the removed dishes are still dirty or not properly washed. Instead of calling a service technician, try to solve the problem using our simple tricks.

Dishwasher not washing dishes? Do a mini review

If you notice that the dishes you just took out of the dishwasher are still dirty or not thoroughly cleaned, the problem may lie in the filter and dirty drain. We recommend removing it, discarding any residue that has accumulated in it, and washing it by hand in warm water with a detergent such as dishwashing liquid. The basket inside the filter should be thoroughly scrubbed and the filter itself should be washed of all deposits with a toothbrush and then thoroughly rinsed under running water.

It is also a good idea to remove the bottom cover on the bottom of the dishwasher that is around the filter, as the small holes it covers can also be full of scale, deposits and dirt. Ensure sufficient water flow in the entire interior of the dishwasher to avoid inconvenience with insufficiently washed dishes. It is also a good idea to check the spray arms, as they can also be the cause of inaccurate washing.

What to do if the dishwasher does not wash the dishes?

Other causes of unwashed dishes include hard water. Hard water leaves unsightly residues on all dishes, which are particularly visible on glassware. Hard water also affects the dishwasher itself, which leads to faster wear. It is recommended to regularly add special dishwasher salt to the tank, which will eliminate the problem of hard water, resulting in clean and shiny dishes. To increase the effect, it is also worth investing in a rinser, which will give glasses and cutlery an extra shine.

It’s also a good idea to look at the dishwasher tablets you use.

First, consider whether your tablets are sufficiently cleaned. Then, if necessary, get stronger tablets, which also contain a larger amount of detergent and more effective degreasing ingredients.

Take care of your dishwasher from the inside with home care

Don’t forget to clean the inside of the dishwasher regularly every month to keep the device working flawlessly. Above all, you can use special liquids and capsules that you can find in stores. Alternatively, if you prefer a home solution, you can then prepare your own cleaning mixture:

  • a glass of vinegar
  • 1 lemon cut in half
  • two tablespoons of baking soda

Place the halved lemon on the top shelf of the dishwasher, pour vinegar on the bottom shelf and pour baking soda into the tablet container. This solution will deal with all impurities and residues, and the lemon will also refresh and smell beautifully.

Stubborn deposits and grease disappear immediately. Your dishwasher will shine without scrubbing
