The striker, who was revealed by the Minas Gerais club, was traded in 2011 with Dynamo Kiev, from Ukraine, returning to Brazil to defend Grêmio, from where he transferred to Verdão in 2015.
Management made official this Monday (23) the hiring of . The striker, formerly of Palmeiras, signed a contract until the end of 2027, after , at the beginning of the month. The agreement between the parties had been expected since before the end of the Brasileirão. “A baby from the den will always have a bad DNA!??”, announced the Minas Gerais club, on social media, in reference to the player’s history with the celestial team. “Cruzeiro and Dudu are together again! Our #CriadaToca is back home. With a contract until the end of 2027, the victorious striker arrives to write new heroic and immortal pages with the most hideous mantle in the world. Welcome back, Dudu!”
Dudu was revealed by Cruzeiro’s youth teams. In 2011, he was traded to Dynamo Kyiv, Ukraine. Three years later, he returned to Brazil to play for Grêmio, from where he moved to Palmeiras in 2015. In 2019, he briefly left the Alviverde club to play in Qatar. But he returned less than two years later. At Palmeiras, Dudu made history by participating in the team’s main achievements in recent years, being a decisive player in the so-called “Abel Ferreira Era”, with Brasileirão and Copa Libertadores titles. The decision to leave Palmeiras came after the athlete had few chances in the starting team this year, spending most of the games on the bench.
The player’s last match with the alviverde shirt was on December 8, in the 1-0 defeat to Fluminense, in the last round of the Brasileirão. Dudu almost didn’t move to Cruzeiro in the middle of the year. He liked the proposal to return to the Belo Horizonte team, but changed his mind after the bad repercussions of the transfer between the Palmeiras team. The Cruzeirenses even announced an agreement to sign a contract with the athlete, which ended up not happening.
With few chances in the first team, Dudu maintained contact with the Minas Gerais club and has now completed his return. The miners had Alexandre Mattos, football director responsible for taking the athlete to Palmeiras for the first time, as an asset in the negotiation. Dudu received approximately R$2.1 million a month at the São Paulo club, one of the highest salaries in the country.
