Boeing 737-800 with 181 people on board exploded at Muan airport after leaving the runway and hitting a wall during landing
The South Korean airline Jeju Air used its Instagram profile to apologize after this Sunday (Dec 29, 2024), in South Korea.
A Boeing 737-800 with 181 people on board (6 crew and 175 passengers) left the runway, crashed into a wall and exploded while trying to land at Muan International Airport, about 350 km south of the capital Seoul. There are deaths, but there is still no precise number of how many people died in the accident or what caused it.
The plane had taken off from Bangkok, Thailand, towards the city of Muan. Images circulating online indicate that the aircraft had its landing gear retracted when it touched the ground.
On its Instagram profile, Jeju Air states that it will make every effort to resolve the accident and apologizes. It also publishes 2 contact numbers for families of victims in South Korea and abroad.
