The case of an operation in Kvetoslavov, whose owner received a fine of 1,500 euros for an incorrectly issued treasury document, grew into a stormy debate about the adequacy of financial management controls. The seller paid extra for banal technical deficiency, since the document was missing diacritics.
The president of the financial administration, Jozef Kiss, commented on the whole matter at a press conference, rejecting the interpretation that it was a trivial dispute about grammar. “Let’s not simplify the whole case to only softened, long and commas. It’s about compliance with the statutory requirements of the cashier’s document,” stated. At the same time, he added that the inspection in operation is still ongoing and has not yet been officially closed.
Kiss emphasized that if misconduct on the part of the controllers is proven, the financial report will draw consequences. Despite the sharp criticism of the public, he declares his friendliness. “No one intended to take down his business as it is presented in the media. The procedure was standard, just like any other inspection,” he emphasized.
The head of the bankers enriched the discussion with a controversial argument. According to him, the businessman benefited from the whole situation. “For a fine of 1,500 euros, he got an advertisement in the main news of all the televisions. His sales increased by hundreds of percent, so I think we didn’t hurt him that much in the end.” he added that the owner of the establishment has appealed against the findings so far.
