Holidays are the moment of the year that we wait for with bated breath. Rest, trips to various corners of the country and the world, time spent with loved ones, without any obligations – this is what we associate with it, a well-deserved period of regeneration. This is often when many people decide to travel abroad. Luxurious hotels, delicious food, swimming pools, and affordable prices for recreation tempt hundreds of Poles. However, this year the upcoming holidays may be especially difficult. Not only the unstable situation in the Middle East, which was one of the most popular holiday destinations, but also the rising prices of trips could have influenced the decision of a large group of Poles. A study conducted by the Pollster Research Institute shows that as many as 24 percent society declares that neither they nor any of their family members will go on holiday this year. In turn, almost every fifth respondent does not know how much they will spend, which indicates great flexibility or lack of specific plans.

Holiday spending is dominated by lower and medium budgets. The majority of respondents plan to spend:
- Up to PLN 2,000 per person: 17 percent.
- Up to PLN 1,000 per person: 14 percent.
- Up to PLN 3,000 per person: 12 percent.
The research shows a strong correlation between earnings and the amounts we plan to spend on holidays in 2026 – the higher the income, the lower the percentage of those who do not travel and the higher the percentage of those planning larger expenses. More than half of households with the lowest incomes do not plan to leave. This is undoubtedly the group that is most financially burdened in the context of holidays. The percentage of non-migrants in the high-income group above PLN 10,000 is decreasing most clearly. zloty. People with lower incomes, the unemployed, retirees, single and elderly people most often give up holiday trips or plan very modest expenses. Interestingly, often, as much as 38 percent respondents, single people do not intend to go on holiday. In turn, two-person households are more willing to travel and spend in lower and medium ranges.
The information comes from a study conducted by the Pollster Research Institute on May 8-11, 2026 using the CAWI method on a sample of 1,005 adult Poles.
