Relatives of victims of air disaster in South Korea demand information

The situation inside Muan International Airport in South Korea is marked by sadness and anguish, as relatives and loved ones wait for news.

Many of those gathered cried or screamed as authorities read the names of the victims aloud, according to footage from a Reuters video.

It was possible to see several family members shouting at the officers, demanding more information after what happened.

Only two people were pulled alive from the wreckage and rescuers warned there was little chance of finding any more survivors.

“I’m going crazy,” a man could be heard shouting in the video. People were also seen hugging each other and wiping away tears, while others mourned in the background.

In the last few hours, South Korean media have released similar images. “We need to confirm whether they are dead or alive!” a woman can be heard shouting on a broadcast. “Only then can we find out which hospital we should go to!”

Worst plane crash in decades

At least 177 people died on Saturday (28), according to local fire and rescue authorities.

This is the country’s worst air disaster in decades. , both crew members, while two people are missing.

The Jeju Air plane was carrying 175 passengers and six crew members when it crash-landed at Muan County Airport. Everyone on board was South Korean except for two Thai citizens.
