The Prime Minister’s New Year’s message repeats the word “investment” and emphasizes that it is necessary to save the welfare state.
“The keywords are investment, investment, investment. Realize public investment. Stimulate internal, private and business investment. Attract foreign investment that seeks predictability and security.”
Luis Montenegro he anticipated Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and published his New Year message before the President of the Republic.
In a text published in , entitled ‘Portugal on the move’, Montenegro says that only with more investment will Portugal be able to “continue to save the social state – with concrete and constructive actions, not with empty words, blockages or fear of change”.
Investment, he argues, is essential for us to have “hope in the future”. Investment in three areas: public, internal (private and business) and external investment.
This is how Portugal will be “a renewed country, fairer, freer, more democratic, more tolerant, more competitive, with more wealth”.
For 2025, the prime minister guarantees “renewal of policies, objectives, energy and commitment”.
“We are determined to prove that it is possible to have less taxes and better salaries and pensions as a central element of a new economic and social policy, which brings more justice and progress for all”, indicates the government leader.
Remembering that we are in a context of “global interdependencies”, Luís Montenegro warns of the consequences of the political and economic crises in France and Germany. But believe in “stability and in opportunities” that exists in Portugal.
The two most “hot” topics of recent times were not ignored by the prime minister: there needs to be a “immigration regulated” and “safeguard the security as one of the country’s largest assets.”
And, on the International Day of Peace, it focused on domestic violence: “Peace begins within the four walls of every home, which must be the safest place in the world, where violence, especially against women and children, must be firmly combated to be eradicated.”
