Medical staff at the Bratislava University Hospital (UNB) treated 354 patients on the last day of the year. UNB spokeswoman Eva Kliská informed about it. Patients arrived on New Year’s Day with various diagnoses. Many of them injured themselves after falling while under the influence of alcohol.
“One patient overdid it with alcohol to such an extent that he fell unconscious and our paramedics had to resuscitate him. A seventy-three-year-old woman under the influence of alcohol fell down the stairs at a New Year’s Eve party and was brought to us with a serious brain hemorrhage,” the UNB spokeswoman informed.
Two women were treated for burns at the workplace. One of them is in critical condition, connected to artificial lung ventilation, she has burns on 43 percent of her body. “She caused these injuries while pouring flammable liquid into the fireplace. Her friend, who tried to put it out, also suffered burns to her hands and face, but her life is out of danger,” Kliská added.
