HAS CNNCampos reported that the main challenge in 2025 will be “to further accelerate deliveries, strengthen our capacity to carry out projects and continue to transform the city, ensuring that the actions initiated in our first administration continue to advance, but also to initiate new actions that respond to the demands of the population”.
“We will focus on the most urgent demands, such as expanding daycare spaces, strengthening health, the urbanization of vulnerable areas and mobility and infrastructure projects. I know the great responsibility, which is the size of the trust that the population has in our work, but I am very willing to work and ready to accelerate even more”, highlighted the mayor.
“As I said, I want to be the best mayor in the history of Recife and I work every day to improve myself and do more”, he pointed out.
When asked about how he will deal with the opposition in the City Council, the manager declared that “dialogue is essential in politics, and I deeply believe in the importance of building bridges, reducing barriers and seeking convergences”.
“I learned from my father that politics is the art of joining together. And we will work with all councilors, regardless of party, around a common objective: to keep Recife moving forward. The platform has already been dismantled, and now it is time to join forces to deliver more results. We will respect the plurality of opinions, because the opposition has a fundamental role in democracy”, he added.
“I will remain open to listening to ideas, criticisms and suggestions that help promote further development, improve quality and expand services in Recife. We will always put the needs of Recife residents above any partisan differences, after all, the city’s challenges have no ideology”, he added.
Regarding coexistence with the state and federal governments, João Campos said that “dialogue and cooperation are essential to find solutions to the challenges of a large city like Recife, and we will seek partnerships with all spheres of government, from institutions with the capacity and willingness to help us.”
“I will continue to maintain a republican relationship with the state government and we will strengthen the partnership with President Lula’s government, which has already been a great ally of our administration”, he continued.
Another topic discussed in the conversation was how to improve the transparency of the municipal Executive. “It is already a pillar of our management, and our commitment is to advance even further”, according to the mayor.
“Recife has already established itself as a national reference in innovation and digital government, receiving awards such as the diamond seal of good practices in smart cities [Connected Smart Cities]. Tools such as Conecta Recife and EITA! Recife have been fundamental in bringing public management closer to the population, allowing quick and direct access to municipal services. We will further expand and modernize these initiatives, creating platforms that integrate data in a clear and accessible way”, highlighted João Campos.
“Our objective is to ensure that transparency goes beyond the availability of data, facilitating understanding and dialogue with the population, and ensuring that Recife continues to be a model of efficient, innovative management and connected to the demands of the population”, assessed the re-elected mayor.
João Campos also detailed what he plans for the first 100 days of the new term.
“Our priority is to ensure that Recife continues to advance, focusing on structural works that are already underway and others that will be initiated. Among the priority projects are the inauguration of the Children’s Hospital, the largest under construction in our state and offering reference services, and the completion of social infrastructure works, especially on the city’s hills and in flat areas that suffer from flooding. ”, explained the mayor.
“At the same time, we will continue work to expand daycare spaces and expand coverage of basic health care. Another point will be to reinforce employment and income generation policies, and the delivery of quality public spaces so that people from Recife can live in their city. We want to start the mandate by showing that Recife will continue on the right path, with concrete results and many deliveries”, he concluded.
