Glorioso ended the year with 75 games under its belt and a total of 43 wins, 19 draws and 13 wins. With 123 goals scored and only 65 conceded, the team had the best campaign in the club’s history and ends 2024 as the best team in Brazil.

Historic campaign

For Eternal Glory, Botafogo advanced from the Pre-Libertadores to the title of champion of America in 2024. Fogão became only the 2nd team to win the South American continental competition after passing through the playoffs phase.

Glorioso’s path in search of Eternal Glory began in the 2nd phase of the Pre-Libertadores, against Aurora, from Bolivia. The clubs drew 1 x 1 in the first leg and, in the return match, at Nilton Santos, Glorioso won 6 x 0. In the 3rd phase of the Pre-Libertadores, Botafogo beat , with a score of 3 x 2 on aggregate.

In the group stage, Artur Jorge’s team had a turbulent start, with defeats to Junior Barranquilla and LDU, but managed to recover and came in second place, with 10 points. From the round of 16, already in a great phase, Botafogo went through São Paulo and River Plate, respectively, until the big decision against Atlético-MG.

Brasileirão of comebacks

After losing the lead to Palmeiras in the 35th round of the championship, reliving the ghost of 2023, Glorioso overcame the trauma, beat Verdão at home and secured the lead in the tournament. Despite the drama, Glorioso had a historic and unquestionable campaign to win the title after 29 years without lifting the Brazilian championship trophy.

In the Brasileirão, Glorioso had 23 wins, 10 draws and just five defeats. Artur Jorge’s team ends the year as the champion with the longest undefeated streak in the Brasileirão by points, after 16 matches without losing.
