After negotiations with the ÖVP collapsed, SPÖ party leader Andreas Babler found praise for the outgoing ÖVP chairman Karl Nehammer. In the ÖVP, the wing that flirted with the Blues from the start prevailed. Babler warned of “blue-black” and a “right-wing extremist chancellor in this country.”
