Algarve Libraries guarantee free access to more than 7 thousand online publications until 2027

Readers of the Algarve Intermunicipal Library Network (BIBAL) will continue to benefit from free access to more than 7 thousand online publications. This innovative service, ensured by the joint investment of the region’s mayors, involves a value of approximately 65 thousand euros and will be available for another three years.

Through the digital platform PressReaderBIBAL library users have access to more than 7,000 publications (newspapers and magazines), national and foreign. This platform allows immediate reading or downloading of publications for later consultation, ensuring a practical and accessible experience.

Algarve mayors reaffirmed their commitment to the democratization of information and knowledge by approving, at the Intermunicipal Council Meeting on November 15, 2024, the continuity of this investment. Therefore, the service PressReader will remain available in BIBAL municipal libraries until 2027.

A PressReaderdistributed in Portugal by WECUL, offers full and direct access to more than 7,000 publications, available immediately after being published. Readers registered in libraries can access content both in person and remotely, via computer or mobile devices.
