Technicians from the Court of Auditors of (TCE-MG) have demanded from the government’s Finance Secretariat (Novo) more transparency about tax incentives granted to companies in the state.

The question in the court of accounts is that the letters sent to the Treasury regarding the list of companies that receive the incentives, the reason they were granted and the return of these benefits to the state are not responded to satisfactorily.

The dissatisfaction was conveyed in a meeting between technicians from the two bodies held in September last year, but the complaint about difficulty in accessing data continues.

In this year’s Budget, the Zema government expanded the space with the forecast of so-called “tax waivers” in relation to the previous year at R$4.4 billion, in values updated for inflation.

The weight of these subsidies in proportion to the State’s net current revenue also increased, from 12.31% in 2024 to 14.64% in 2025.

When contacted for comment on the matter, the Finance Department did not respond. TCE-MG said it will not comment.
