In December, singer Paľo Habera (62) performed at a protest after many years. In Bratislava, a march was held in support of Slovak culture from SNP Square to Slobody Square. The protest culminated in the Concert for the Future of Culture, where a singer also performed. “I’m not much of a singer who walks around the squares, but at this moment I feel that being here is very important.” he said.

Among the prominent faces of Slovak culture is actress Zdena Studeková (70), who recently refused to accept a state award from President Petr Pellegrini. During the interview with the moderator Michal Kovačič, the actress expressed what she thought about Paľ Haber’s participation in the aforementioned protest. Part of the interview was published.

“We’ll talk privately about what I think about it, because there are people who were involved during Mečiar and Rezeš,” said Studenková. “So I consider this a possible rehabilitation from him. I sent Mr. Rezeš somewhere several times, even though he wanted to write me a check for a 7-digit amount,” she revealed.

It’s important that younger people do it, people who are still going, let’s say, at the peak of that career and are ambitious and so on. And they will speak to the generation that is supposed to save that culture, namely the 30-somethings and 40-somethings. What about us? We are pensioners“, Studenková said her opinion.
