This Monday (20), 11 days after Schneider’s departure, the secretariat continues under the command of interim Gilson José Monteiro Filho, who was previously executive secretary of the area. The state network of Pernambuco is considered one of the references in secondary education.
According to behind-the-scenes information, the expectation is that the governor (PSDB) will appoint a new secretary to the position by the end of January. The governor’s assistants minimize the absence of a permanent head and say that work at the secretariat continues normally.
In a mini administrative reform approved in December by the Assembly, Raquel Lyra separated the Sports secretariat from the Education secretariat. The expectation is that at least one of the portfolios will be used to cover the governor’s political base. The tendency is for the group of federal deputy Mendonça Filho (União-PE) to nominate the holder of the Sports portfolio.
Upon leaving office on the 9th, Alexandre Schneider stated that he wanted to return to São Paulo to be with his family. He spent six months in the position and was the second Secretary of Education in the Raquel Lyra government. Previously, Ivoneide Dantas spent a year and a half in the role.
