Russia has launched a drone and missile dam against Ukraine on Saturday, killing 12 people and damaging dozens of residential buildings, as well as energy infrastructure across the country, Ukrainian officials said.
Ukraine’s emergency services said a Russian missile hit a residential building in Central City of Poltáva, killing eight people. Previously, they had informed that there were 17 injured, including four children.
Photos published in the Telegram Message Application showed the building with destroyed upper floors and thick columns of smoke climbing to the sky. Firefighters and dozens of rescue teams searched the rubble and carried the dead in the stretchers.
One person was killed and four were injured in the city of Kharkiv, in the northeast of the country, in an attack with drones, according to the mayor.
Three police officers were killed during attacks while patrolling the streets in a village in the northeast of Sumy, according to regional authorities.
“Last night, Russia attacked our cities using various types of weapons: missiles, attack drones and aerial bombs,” said President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, adding that there were damage to six regions.

“Every terrorist attack of this type proves that we need more support to defend ourselves from Russian terror. Each air defense system, every antimysis weapon, saves lives, ”he said in the Telegram app.
The Ukrainian Air Force stated that the Russian forces launched 123 drones and more than 40 missiles. Its air defense units raised 56 from the drones and redirected 61, he said. The Air Force did not provide numbers on how many missiles were intercepted.

In Poltáva, about 120 km from the Russian border, approximately 18 apartment buildings, a kindergarten and the energy infrastructure were damaged, according to the city’s authorities.

Ukrainian authorities said damage was also registered in the city of Zaporizehzia in the Southeast, in the regions of Kharkiv and Sumy, in the Northeast, and in Khmelnytskyi in the West.
According to Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov, Russian forces used six missiles and 17 Shahed drones to reach gas infrastructure and other facilities.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has stated that its forces have launched attacks on gas and other Ukraine energy infrastructures and slaughtered 108 Ukrainian drones in the last 24 hours, according to Russian news agencies.
