Decision, aligned with the “America First” policy, will be made official in a meeting with Netanyahu, Israel
The President of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican), plans to issue an executive order on this 3rd (4.FEV.2025) to seal the country’s departure from the UN Human Rights Council (United Nations) and the interruption of American financing for UNRWA (UN Agency for Palestinian Refugee Assistance), which assists the Gaza Strip.
The action coincides with one between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (Likud, right) in Washington. Netanyahu commands a military offensive against the extremist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip that has left more than 48,000 Palestinians killed. The US has questioned the United Nations Council for an alleged bias contrary to Israel and protecting governments accused of violating human rights.
Trump’s decision reflects a continuity of the policies of his previous administration (“America First”), in which direct interests in the country are prioritized over multilateral measures. The executive order aligns with questions to USAID (US Agency for International Development), which can be extinguished.
The newspaper reported that the White House prepared a document claiming that the UN council “It has not fulfilled its purpose and continues to be used as a protective body for countries that commit horrible human rights violations” and that “He demonstrated consistent prejudice against Israel, focusing on him unfairly and disproportionately in the council’s procedures.”
