The mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), said the house will not be a cause for more “instability” to Brazil, as the country already has many challenges to be faced in the external and internal scenario. Motta cited conversations he had with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and former President Jair Bolsonaro and said that being in the House is being able to relate to everyone.

“We will not be a more instability cause. Brazil already has many challenges to be faced, internal scenario and external scenario, and needs to have in representatives of powers much more responsibility to generate more turmoil, ”he said in an interview with GloboNews on Tuesday, 4.

Motta commented that he always had a “conciliation profile” and that, in his assessment, politics is made with rationality, without prejudice where the idea comes from. For him, his ability to build bridges and never distance himself in the debate helped him reach the presidency of the house.

The new mayor confirmed that he was with Lula and Bolsonaro the same day at the end of last year and commented that the conversations with both were mature. About the petista, Motta said that the chief executive made it clear that he will never send projects of personal interest. “Lula said that always the projects to be sent by the executive will be of interest to the country, just as we guarantee full attention,” he said.

Already about the meeting with Bolsonaro, the deputy said that the former president touched on the amnesty agenda, but made a point of saying that he did not defend to him. “He Bolsonaro made a point of saying, ‘Look, Hugo, I’m not defending amnesty to me. My legal problems I can solve, my party helps me, I have my structure. My concern is about people who are being condemned in the face of the January 8 attacks who received very large penalties, ”he said.

Motta, however, pointed out that the agenda divides the house: PT does not want to guide it and the PL defends, but the college of leaders is the one who solves the agenda. “With all the responsibility, we will treat this theme, very quietly, very serene, so that this theme is no longer a factor to increase the tensioning that exists today among the powers,” he said.
