House approves punishment to schools that refuse to enroll students

The House of Representatives approved, on Tuesday (11), The bill that punishes schools that refuse to enroll students at all school levels. The text now goes to the Senate.

The proposal changes the Law of Education Guidelines and Bases (LDB). The text is authored by Deputy Helder Salomão (PT-SE) and had a rapporteur of Deputy Adriana Accorsi (PT-GO).

According to the text, which refuse to enroll students may be warned, temporary suspension of the admission of new students or even the suspension of authorization or accreditation.

By the project, sanctions must be applied when the school refuses, without justification, to enroll the student. During the session, deputies stated that some schools refuse to accept students with disabilities.

Second, the measure will contribute to the elimination of discrimination against children and adolescents with disabilities.
