Donald Trump is again among the nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

More than 300 people nominated the Nobel Peace Prize this year, the organizers informed the awarding the award on Wednesday. In accordance with the statutes, the identity of the nominees is kept secret for at least 50 years. However, US President Donald Trump, Pope Francis, former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and UN Secretary -General António Guterres, is reportedly among the candidates, AFP reported.

In its statement, the Norwegian Nobel Institute specified that there are 244 individuals and 94 organizations among 338 nominations. Compared to 2024, when they registered 286 nominations, this is a significant increase. However, 376 nominations registered in 2016 remain a record.

Although the organizers do not reveal the nominations, the petitioners often publish the name of their favorite in the media. This was also the case with Trump, nominated by US Congressman Darrell Issa. In the X post, he wrote that no one deserves this prestigious prize more than Trump. It could be granted him for peaceful efforts in the Middle East.

Issa submitted his nomination after the deadline, but Trump was also nominated by Ukrainian MP Olexandr Merežko after his re -election as the US President.

Trump was designed as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize in previous years, but the nomination this year could be particularly interesting, as his initiation of negotiations with Russia on the end of the war that Moscow unleashed against Ukraine in 2022 caused controversial reactions. Thus, Trump has fundamentally changed the trend of US foreign policy and raised doubts with Western allies and Ukraine.

French candidacy Gisele Pelicot is also known. The petitioners of her nomination – from Britain – want to appreciate its openness and bravery during the trial with her ex -husband. Dominique Pelicot was condemned for letting his wife raped by foreign men, previously given her a strong anxiety drug that put it into a lethargic state.

The trial in the Pelicot case in France, but also abroad, reopened the theme of sexist and sexual violence and, and the broader sense of relationships between men and women.

The Nobel Peace Prize last year was won by the Japanese group Nihon Hidankjo, founded by people who survived explosions of atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in order to disseminate enlightenment about catastrophic humanitarian consequences of the use of nuclear weapons.
