He was so popular in the PRL that he was eaten in almost every film. Today you will not see this dessert in the cafe

The name of the Sultan cream does not come from the Turkish sultan, but from Sultan raisins, which are a key ingredient in the delicacy. One of the most elegant and prestigious, today is a bit forgotten. If you want to remember the recipe, below you will find a proven recipe.

The Sultan cream is still considered to be the hit of the Polish People’s Republic. He enjoyed the greatest sympathy in the 1960s and 1970s. Every cafe that wanted to attract customers had to have this dessert on the menu. He was so popular that he appeared in many films and series from those times.

Cult, somewhat ironic, the scene with sultan cream comes from the movie “Girls to take” from 1972 (dir. Janusz Kondratiuk). Three heroines from a small town come to Warsaw in search of adventures and brides. They try an excellent dessert, but one of them does not like it very much. Published potential aphticals invite virgins to an elegant restaurant, where they order more portions of a luxurious dessert to impress them. These, afraid that they will offend and scare away men, try to get all the cups to the end. It ends with tears and gastric ailments.

Today, the dessert has already been somewhat forgotten and not everyone knows, what is a sultan. Sweetness is almost entirely based on whipped cream, which is why it comes out extremely light and fluffy. Cocoa and raisins supplied with rum add taste. Although it is a cream for adults, it can also be prepared in a version tailored to the youngest.

  • 50 ml of rum,
  • 400 ml cream 36%,
  • 6 tablespoons of powdered sugar,
  • 3 tablespoons of bitter cocoa (and a little for decoration),
  • pieces of milk or dark chocolate.

Method of performance:

Pour sultan raisins into a bowl and pour rum. Set aside for about half an hour to soak them with alcohol. After this time, strain the raisins through a strainer.

Pour well -chilled cream into a higher pot and beat to a stiff foam. At the end of whipping, pour powdered sugar.

Divide the whipped cream in half – put one half into a separate bowl and add cocoa to it and supplied raisins (leave a few to decorate). Mix to combine the ingredients.

Put the cocoa cream to the bottom of the cups. Then apply a layer of whipped cream. Sprinkle the top with chocolate chips, cocoa and decorate the rest of the raisins. Put the cups in the fridge for at least an hour. Remove the chilled Sultan cream just before serving the guests.

It should be remembered that the component of the dessert are alcohol -soaked raisins. If you want to give sweetness to children, just prepare two layers of cream. Add some ordinary raisins to the dark (or slightly scalded to soften). Sultan cream in a non -alcoholic version is also delicious.
