The public consultation of the study and feasibility of the tracing of the Metrobus Public Transport System to connect the municipalities of Faro, Loulé and Olhão, which ends this Thursday, received 34 appearances until 17:30, according to Portal participates.
The project foresees the creation of a 37.6 -kilometer route between the municipalities of Faro, Loulé and Olhão, with connection to Gago Coutinho Airport, University of Algarve, Montenegro and Parque das Cidades.
The construction contract has an estimated value of 203.1 million euros (ME), an average price of 5.4 me per kilometer, says the document that went into public consultation on January 30.
The Electric Public Road Transport System aims to “promote sustainable multimodal mobility, a structuring project for the transition to a zero carbon emissions economy”, the Algarve 2030 regional program.
The proposal in consultation, promoted by the Algarve Regional Coordination and Regional Development Commission (CCDR), “provides for the creation of a dedicated public transport corridor, operated by a Metrobus or Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)”, a system with greater efficiency and adapted to the needs of users, integrating with the current rail network.
Metrobus is an electric vehicle in its own corridor, with 24 stops, serving about 185,000 residents in the three municipalities, ie 40% of the Algarve population.
According to the document, the project provides for the construction of new road roads, intermediate and terminal stations, containment structures, viaducts and tunnels, as well as the energy feeding system and signaling necessary for the operation of the system.
The expansion of the public road transport system to other locations in the district of Faro, notably to the cities of Quarteira and Almancil, in the municipality of Loulé, and Albufeira, is another of the proposals in the document in public consultation on the portal.
