Ryanair, known for revolutionizing low -cost air trips in Europe, has been consolidating its presence in Portugal, especially in the Algarve, with its strong presence at the Faro airport. Founded in 1984, the Irish company began with short routes between Ireland and the United Kingdom, but quickly expanded to become one of the largest European carriers, offering flights accessible to millions of passengers every year.
The new routes from the Algarve
Gago Coutinho Airport in Faro will be one of the company’s main focuses for summer of 2025. The company announced, on Tuesday, March 11, its new program for the high season, which includes 47 routes and more than 270 weekly flights. The goal is to provide Portuguese customers more options and direct connections to various destinations.
In total, 3.1 million places will be available during the warmer months, representing 11% growth compared to summer of 2024. This increase reflects Ryanair’s commitment to reinforce the offer from the Algarve, an increasingly sought after region by tourists from all over Europe.
What the Communication Director says
Elena Cabrera, Ryanair’s director of communication to Portugal, highlighted the importance of this investment: “Ryanair is pleased to announce Faro’s 2025 summer programming, offering 47 interesting routes, including frequent connections to major European cities such as Berlin, Dublin, London and Porto. This extensive summer program ensures that both Portuguese and international visitors can benefit from even more accessible travel options for the Algarve. ”
Campaign conditions
To celebrate the launch of this program, the company launched a promotional campaign with tickets from 14.99 €. The offer is valid until this Sunday, March 16, for trips to hold between April 1 and June 30, providing the opportunity to fly at reduced prices to various destinations, says.
Some available destinations
Available destinations include European cities such as Bournemouth, Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Madrid and Toulouse. In addition, it will also be possible to fly to destinations outside Europe, such as Marrakech, in Morocco, further widening the network of options from Faro.

The most visited destination
The city that will feature more calls from the Algarve will be Dublin, with 31 weekly flights. For this destination, Ryanair offers out tickets since € 29.99, making the Irish capital an attractive option for more extended escapes or vacations.
This reinforcement of the operation represents a significant investment of 1.1 billion euros. To ensure this increase in routes and frequencies, Ryanair will have 11 aircraft based at Gago Coutinho airport, reinforcing the strategic importance of this airport to the company.
Despite this growth in Faro, Ryanair regrets the lack of expansion in Lisbon, pointing out the “artificial capacity restrictions” as an obstacle to the development of its operations in the Portuguese capital.
The bet on the Algarve
The bet on the Algarve reflects not only the growing demand for this region as a tourist destination, but also the intention to reinforce the connection between southern Portugal and several European cities, allowing the residents of the Algarve to travel more easily and at competitive prices.
Ryanair has been mainly responsible for democratizing air trips, offering flights to affordable prices and expanding the network of destinations available from secondary airports such as Faro.
New opportunities
With the summer of 2025 on the horizon, the program now announced promises to make the region even more accessible to foreign visitors and offer Portuguese new opportunities to explore Europe and beyond. Whether for a long -term escape or holidays, Ryanair reinforces its bet on the Algarve, consolidating Gago Coutinho airport as an important starting point for new adventures.
