Republican deputy Rich McCormick published a message on social networks in which he asks his colleagues for help in the US Congress to reinforce the request for sanctions to the minister, (Supreme Court), after (-SP) announce that

“The fact that @bolsonararosp, the most voted deputy in Brazil’s history and son of former President @jairbolsonaro, was forced to seek exile in the United States demonstrates the alarming deterioration of democracy in the largest country in South America,” wrote McCormick.

The deputy speaks of exile, but that does not apply to practice, because it occurs in contexts in which the person is forced to leave the country.

McCormick referred to President Donald Trump in February in February to the White House, which requests the application of the MAGNSTSKY law, which provides for punishments, such as loss of the American visa, Moraes. Now he has appealed to colleagues from Congress to join the request.

“The representative @maelvirasalazar and I have sent a letter to the White House by using Global Magnitsky’s use to take decisive measures against the dictatorial judge of the Supreme Court of Brazil, Alexandre de Moraes – and potentially against his accomplices – in these violations of democratic principles and human rights,” wrote the parliamentarian at X on Thursday.

“We strongly encourage our colleagues in Congress and the Senate to join us in signing this letter in defense of freedom in this nation of critical importance.”

Representative Elvira Salazar is one of the authors of the Bill in the US Chamber who provides for sanctions to foreign authorities who violate freedom of expression in the US.

In the letter signed by both sent to Trump and the head of the State Department, Marco Rubio, equivalent to the US Foreign Minister, they cite the complaint against (PL).

They say the measure was made by what they call the “Brazilian regime” to remove the main candidate for next year’s election – the accusation, however, in the coup plot in late 2022, although also presented some fragile points.

“The indictment of former President Jair Bolsonaro is not justice-it is about eliminating political competition through judicial maneuvers, just as President Trump was targeted before making the greatest political return in history,” says the letter.

Then the text states that the indictment is the result of action of Moraes, which transformed the “Brazilian judiciary into a weapon to crush the opposition”.

“Your actions are a direct attack on democracy, freedom of expression and the rule of law, and we respectfully ask you to take action to ensure that Brazil celebrates a free and fair election in 2026,” the document says.

“Moraes is not just a problem for Brazil – it is a growing threat to the United States,” said the deputies, citing Moraes’ actions regarding Rumble and X.

“The United States cannot allow foreign judges to say what Americans can say, read or publish. Moraes’s behavior is precisely the type of authoritarian abuse that Global Magnitsky law has been created to combat,” the deputies wrote by requesting sanctions against the minister.

In February, Eduardo had meetings with McCormick and Salazar as part of the effort against the STF magistrate in the United States.

On Tuesday (18), to remain us, where it has already spent much of the year, in a crusade to talk to the administration to apply sanctions to STF ministers, especially Moraes.

On Tuesday, the parliamentarian said Cogita asks for asylum in the US to be able to stay legally in the country for more than three months.
