United States Attorney General Pamela Bondi presented on Thursday, accusations against three individuals responsible for the “violent destruction” of Tesla properties. According to a statement from the US Department of Justice (DOJ), “all three defendants will face the full weight of the law by using Molotov cocktails to set up Tesla’s cars and recharge stations.”
“The DOJ is committed to ending all acts of violence and fire criminals directed at Tesla and others properties,” the text says. “The era of committing crimes without consequences is over,” said Bondi. “May this be a warning: If you participate in this wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla properties, DOJ will put you behind bars.”
According to Doj, one of the defendants was arrested after launching about eight Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealership, and was armed with a rifle. Another defendant tried to set Teslas on fire with Molotov cocktails.
The third wrote “offensive messages against President Donald Trump” in the automaker’s refill stations before setting them on fire.
The penalties for the accused range from five to 20 years in prison.
