Domestic violence is one of the crimes with the most complaints. Last year alone there were more than 25,000, but more than half of the cases were filed. Essentially, with Conceição Lino, we ask what guarantees gives justice to the victims.
Lack of access to justice is one of the problems that affect victims of domestic violence, which are mainly women. When they make the decision to file a complaint, they are often unaware of how they can protect their interests and their rights.
This is one of the reasons that led the Bar Association to propose a lawyer prevention scale that can support victims, as exists for the defendants.
At the end of last year, Parliament approved new legislative measures, one of them precisely the assignment of an unofficial lawyer. A process that with the fall of the government was in a impasse.
