Easter is here and we, like every year, are wondering how to make them special this time. Still the same eggs are beautiful, but it’s getting a little boring, don’t you think? This year you can try something a little different – like coloring them in rice.
While our ancestors have stained eggs with natural colors that occur all around (you have sometimes also tried onion peels), or decorated with wax, straw and other materials, today we usually resort to a bag of paint and decals. It is quite easy, but we can also do a lot of work with cleaning. The method for which you need a mug of ordinary rice is much more gentle to the surrounding environment.

Eggs, rice and color
How is it possible to color the Easter eggs in rice? You will be surprised, but it’s not such a big problem. Of course, we will need boiled white eggs, then approximately tea cup of classic white rice, liquid food color – or more, depending on how colorful Easter you want to have – and then the closable bag with the “zipper” at the top. Who would not have such a bag can use a plastic cup, but rather as a backup option.
Easier than it seems
We have everything ready and we can start the work. It will not be complicated. Pour the rice into a sufficiently large and firm closable bag and before inserting eggs, add a few drops of food color. On the quantity will go to the first egg about 15 drops, to the next you will add after ten drops. To achieve a better fixing of the color on the shell, it will certainly not hurt to add a few drops of vinegar. But you have to be careful not to “float” the rice, it must only be moist, it must not be glued with liquid. This would spoil the effect of such dyeing. If there is no vinegar at home, you can do without it.
Spell in the bag
Now connect everything in the bag to color every grain of the rice. As soon as it is ready, put the boiled white, well washed and degreased eggs in the bag. Now everything again well and thoroughly, but carefully, shake and you will be done. While the rice returns to its lighter color, the egg will appear in its new festively polka dot coat. To avoid unnecessarily dumped, it will be preferable to remove the egg (spoon) with rubber gloves.
Will you also invite children to work?
Yes, it’s really as simple as it looks. In addition, this method will certainly be entertained by children you can safely invite to work. Even if they should not be dirty, all parents know well that it will still be better to provide them with older clothes.
You can also use a cup
What about the aforementioned crucible that we can use instead of a bag? This is not a big science either. In short, pour the rice into the container and mix the egg in it with a spoon. The effect will be practically the same, but in this case there is a greater risk of spilling stained rice, especially in cooperation with children. And now just bake the lamb and decorate the solemn board. Easter is here!
