Argentines said goodbye to Pope Francis this Saturday (26), holding a great outdoor mass in front of the cathedral where he served as Archbishop of Buenos Aires before his papacy.
Telões showed the image of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, son of Italian immigrants born in Buenos Aires in 1936, who made history in defending the poor, being the first Latin American Pope.
The historic Plaza de Mayo was full of young people and families, communities to which Pope Francis repeatedly transmitted encouraging messages.
“For many of us, young people who were far from the church, Francis’ legacy approached us,” said 26 -year -old Daniela Wenceslao.
“Today, Francisco is the most important person in our country, and we want to pay this little tribute in his name,” he said.
Earlier, the Vatican held a great funeral and a humble funeral for Pope Francis, who held the position for 12 years. Pope Francis died at age 88 after a stroke on Monday.

In Buenos Aires, Jorge Garcia Cuber, the current Archbishop of the Argentine capital, made a sermon for thousands of people holding photos of Francisco, white flowers and flags of Argentina.
“We still can’t understand or fully measure its global leadership; we cry because we already miss him so much,” said Cuber. “We cry for Francis, we do it from the bottom of our heart, without shame.”

After the sermon, a caravan began around the Plaza de Mayo as a “symbolic hug” to Francisco’s legacy, as well as a pilgrimage to the city’s impoverished areas.
