At 12:33 much of Spain ran out of light, in a massive blackout that affects the entire peninsula. From the afternoon the service seems to return to different points of the geography. The real -time electricity data shows a gradual increase: consumption, which came to 40% of normal, recovers up to 63% at 20:50 at night.

The minutal data captured the moment of the fall. At 12:30 the national consumption was normal, and in the following update, five minutes later, consumption was half. At that low level it takes from 12:45 to these hours (15:20).
The following graphics show the digital trail of the blackout in a series of indicators available in real time.
Instantly, in Google the searches of the word “blackout” exploded
At 12.34 the searches shot at Google. In five minutes the volume of consultations for “blackout” multiplied by 10 normal for an ultrapopular term like “Google”. The “blackout” peak reached 12.59. Hours later, they are still absolutely massive.

The phones fail for millions of people
The reports of lack of telephone service, which monitors the Downdector website, multiplied at the same time for all operators. The notices registered in this portal mainly indicate problems in the services associated with the telephone network, but also point to the fixed and mobile Internet.

Internet also fails
Internet data traffic fell to less than half, according to Deutscerial Internet Exchange deutscher data. Normal at noon was a gradual increase in consumption, but that climb has not occurred: traffic collapsed and remains flat.

Gas consumption has also fallen
After the failure of the electricity supply, gas consumption also fell. At 12:00 national consumption was 27 GW/h, which suddenly collapsed up to just 8 GW/h.

Many services have been left without data
An example is traffic information in Madrid, which normally serves your information in real time and that right now responds with a “without data.”
The DGT has asked the population to avoid taking the car except in cases of extreme need, due to the danger of accidents. “The lack of electricity supply does not allow the operation of traffic lights or signaling panels,” he says.
Nor do trains circulate. The Adif rail network has registered tension losses, which has motivated the interruption of traffic traffic throughout the country. Renfe explains through its social networks profiles that there is no movement or stations from 12.30.
