The White House said today that it would like a “permanent” ceasefire in Ukraine and not just a temporary truce, such as the one announced today.
“The president has made it clear that he would like a permanent ceasefire,” said Caroline Levitt, a White House spokesman during a press conference.
“Although he remains optimistic that an agreement could be concluded, it is also realistic and the two leaders must come to the negotiating table in order to get out of it,” she said, referring to the US president and his Russian and Ukraine counterparts.
According to a spokesman for the US Presidency, Trump is increasingly frustrated by Russian and Ukraine presidents.
