In commercial war with Americans, the Asian country increases the purchase of commodity in Brazil by 32% in April

In business war with the United States, China has increased the purchase of Brazilian soy to replace the grains that historically negotiate with the Americans.

The entry of Brazil’s grain in the Asian country is expected to increase by 32% in April compared to the same period of 2024, totaling 700,000 tons, according to the Chinese newspaper.

The port of Zhoushan, close to Shanghai, should receive 40 Brazilian soybeans until the end of April. In the same month of 2024, there were 27 ships.

China is the main buyer of US grains, but has reduced these imports by Brazilians for about 2 years. According to the news agency, the Asian country is responsible for 48% of US soybean exports.

O Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, Zhao Chenxin, told journalists on Monday (28.br.2025) that the US soy “It can be easily replaced”.

This commercial relationship can be even more impacted by the tariffs imposed by the government of President Donald Trump (Republican Party). There are already movements for a replacement of these grains and Brazil emerges as the main option.

It is still early for the tariff to impact the purchase of large commodity volumes, as these negotiations are sewn months in advance. Tensions between the two nations, however, can contribute to undermine the market.
