The Intersindical Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies () announced that the price of the basic basket dropped on 15 of the 17 capitals analyzed. The cities that registered the largest decreases were Recife, with a reduction of 2.56%, followed by Belo Horizonte, which fell by 2.50%, and Fortaleza, with a decrease of 2.42%. On the other hand, only Florianópolis and Belém observed a slight increase in costs of 0.09% and 0.02%, respectively.

It remains the capital with the most expensive basic basket, with a value of R $ 896.15. Florianópolis and occupy the second and third places, with prices of R $ 858.93 and R $ 847.99, respectively. In contrast, Aracaju and Salvador have the lowest values, with baskets costing R $ 579.54 and R $ 628.97. However, throughout the year, all cities showed an increase in prices, with Belém standing out with a 9.09%increase.

The Dieese also estimated that, for a family of four, the minimum wage required to cover expenses in May was $ 7,528.56. This amount represents 4.96 times the current minimum wage, which is R $ 1,518.00. To acquire the basic basket, the worker had to devote, on average, 107 hours and 43 minutes, a slightly shorter time than in April. The percentage of the net minimum wage committed to the purchase of food fell to 52.93%.

Among the items that make up the basic basket, rice, tomatoes and soybean oil were reduced, the result of the largest offer generated by the periods of the period. This pricing trend can bring relief to consumers, who face an inflation scenario and increased cost of living.
