Gavin Newsom, governor of California, conflicted with US President Donald Trump after the federal government sends the National Guard to help contain protests in Los Angeles.
Newsom opposed the troops and even asked Trump to cancel the detachment of these agents – which was ignored by the president.
After the governor speaks against the sending of the National Guard. Newsom said that adding that the situation in Los Angeles is a “manufactured crisis.”

Who is Gavin Newsom?
Gavin Christopher Newsom was born on October 10, 1967 in San Francisco, California. It is currently part of the Democratic Party.
He studied political science at the University of Santa Clara, where he had partial school scholarship for playing baseball. He graduated from the institution in 1989.
After graduation, Newsom worked briefly in sales and the real estate market before opening a wine store in 1992 in San Francisco. The business has become Plumpjack Group, which includes restaurants, luxury resorts and wineries across California.
The beginning of Gavin Newsom’s political life took place in 1995, when he was appointed to a place in the parking lot and traffic committee by Mayor Willie Brown – who had been volunteering in the election campaign.
In 1997, he began to join the San Francisco Supervisors Council.
Newsom was mayor of San Francisco between 2004 and 2011.
Early in the first term, he drew national attention after authorizing same -sex marriage in the city. Legalization at national level only happened in 2015.
Governor’s official website points out that Gavin Newsom “has initially gained national recognition as one of the main advocates of equality in marriage, weapons control and the decriminalization of marijuana.”
According to the Britannica Encyclopedia, he took measures considered liberal during the period as mayor, but adopted more moderate approach to economic issues.
Gavin Newsom married Jennifer Siebel Newsom on July 26, 2008, with whom she has two children and two daughters: Montana, Hunter, Brooklynn and Dutch.
He was elected Vice Governor of California on two occasions: in 2010 and 2014.
On November 6, 2018, Newsom was elected the 40th California governor, having taken office in 2019. During the first term, he had to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. He was reelected to the State Government in 2022.
