The Government of the State of Acre, through the Secretariat of Public Works (SEOP), continues to execute the construction project of the road complex on Avenida Ceará, at the intersection with Getúlio Vargas Avenue, in Rio Branco. In an exclusive interview with ContilNet This Friday (13), Secretary Ítalo Lopes stated that the work is already in the second of the three phases planned.

The complex completion is scheduled for November this year. The total investment exceeds R $ 22 million, more than R $ 18 million from parliamentary amendment and about R $ 4 million as counterpart from the state.
The first stage of the work – already completed – consisted of the expropriation of real estate located near the site. The second phase, which began on May 12 and still in progress, focuses on the construction of the containment of the four viaduct access straps.

“We are advancing according to planning. We concluded the second handle this weekend and, then, we will start the third. We are expected to take between 40 and 50 days to complete this step, maintaining the agreed schedule with the Rio Branco City Hall,” explained Italo.
The third and last stage, considered the most important, involves the excavation of the stretch of Avenida Ceará, which will require the complete ban for a period of three to four months.

“It is the most impactful phase. We will need to excavate the entire area of Avenida Ceará, which will require the full closure of the road in this stretch for a few months,” added the secretary.
Partnership between state and federal governments
The road complex is the result of a partnership between the state government, via Seop, and the Federal Government, through the Amazon Development Superintendence (Sudam), linked to the Ministry of Regional Integration and Development (MIDR).

According to Ítalo Lopes, after the completion of the viaduct, a second project will start, with execution forecast by 2026.
“This work also includes the expansion of the road rolling range to the fourth bridge. Although intervention in the viaduct should be completed later this year, this stage of expansion will continue until the end of 2026,” he said.
Rio Branco will have its first BRT system
In addition to significantly improving the flow of vehicles in the central region of the capital, the project provides for the implementation of the first BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system of Rio Branco. The proposal consists of an exclusive bus lane, with the objective of reducing travel time and improving the efficiency of public transportation.
“The main benefit of the project is the considerable reduction in waiting time and the journey of public transport. We will implement an exclusive bus lane, known as BRT, which will allow greater fluidity to traffic. It is a change that prioritizes public transportation, but will also bring gains to motorcyclists and drivers in general,” said Ito.
