Although the aphids are really small, as soon as we see them with an undisclosed taste to feast on our carefully grown plants, many gardeners will darken in front of their eyes. Fortunately, there are several reliable tricks that we can get rid of and save the future crop.
To be able to send aphids with all grace to the appropriate limits, we can of course reach for easily available chemistry. With regard to other possibilities, however, it would be a pity – both for the environment and for plants that we are trying to protect. Much more suitable will be the method that our ancestors could use.
Fight the aphids according to the advice in the youtub video in the channel Garden on the river:
Try water and don’t believe the result
As the first option we can try quite ordinary water. The stronger stream from the hose (such that it does not damage the plant at the same time) wash the aphid quite reliably. We just have to count on the fact that they will return to places where they suspect a juicy feast for some time. So we will have to repeat this bath several times. It is more laborious, but the most natural method of combating aphids.
Soap acts reliably
Another gentle measure against aphids is the soap bath. It will be enough to dissolve a few teaspoons of grated ordinary soap in lukewarm water, pour into the sprayer and treat the infected plants. The soap will damage the protective layer of small pests bodies and they will soon get lost. However, when applying such a solution, you must be careful not to hurt the plants. So use it either early in the morning or in the evening. The direct sun in combination with soapy water would certainly not benefit the plants.

Herbal leach against aphid
Another possible spray is the herb leach. These can be, for example, nettles, garlic or wormwood. All these plants can discourage aphids with their odor, which they really do not like. Such a herbal repellent is gentle for plants, but repulsive for aphids. Prepare it for several days by soaking the cut parts of the plants in the water. It should reach approximately inch over the plant material when leaching. Then just water, saturated for aphids with unpleasant essences, pour in the sprayer and go to the garden…
Invite their enemies to the feast
In many cases, nature will best help itself. For example, ladybugs, golden Czechs, or parasitic wasps are fighting against the aphids. These nature predators like to enjoy them. But how to “domesticate” them? It’s not really so complicated. It will be enough to think first and in advance to plant plants in the garden that attract them. You can try dill, fennel, or bundle.
The main thing is to start in time
Fighting a strong infestation of the garden by aphids is very complex and laborious. It will be much better to monitor the events around you and observe any change on plants. When you discover the first individuals of this pest, engage all efforts to dispose of them. Only then can you get rid of them for a long time.
