Two women died and three men were injured in the shooting on Sunday in a church in Lexington, Kentucky, United States, according to state governor Andy Beshear.
The incident began after a police had a vehicle near Blue Grass airport, Lexington police chief Lawrence Weathers said at a press conference.
After firing at the police, the suspect stole a vehicle and fled to the Richmond Road Baptist Church in southwest Lexington, where he started firing at people.
“Preliminary information indicates that the suspect may have had a connection with church members,” said Weathers.
The suspect, who was not immediately identified, was later killed by the police de Lexington.
“Please pray for all those affected by these acts of meaningless violence and we thank the Lexington Police Department and the Kentucky State Police Department,” said Governor Andy Beshear in a social networking publication.
