United States President Donald Trump accused former President Barack Obama on Tuesday of having committed “betrayal” when trying to reverse his victory in the 2016 elections.
In a statement made at the White House Oval Hall, next to the Philippine President, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Trump stated that Obama led a “blow attempt” with the participation of Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Cia and FBI.
“Obama was caught. He was the chief of the gang,” Trump told reporters. “It’s time for us to go after these people.”
The speech occurs days after the director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, to disclose a report claiming that there was an “treacherous conspiracy” articulated by Obama to delegitimize Trump’s victory by associating it with alleged Russian interference.
A new front
In a more aggressive tone than usual, Trump stated that his predecessor tried to make a conspiracy narrative with Kremlin to destabilize his government in pregnancy after defeating Hillary Clinton at the polls.
“They tried to defraud the election and were caught. This needs to have very severe consequences,” said Trump.

The president also suggested that at the time he chose not to sue Hillary Clinton out of institutional respect, but “this may change.”
Rereading of the 2016 facts
Also during the Obama government, in October 2016, the National Security Department and the National Intelligence office issued an official statement accusing the Russian government of trying to interfere with the elections – including cyber attacks on Democratic Party systems. The text, however, did not point out direct involvement of Trump’s campaign.
The formal investigation into the case was already conducted under the presidency of Trump, with special prosecutor Robert Mueller ahead. The final report, published in 2019, concluded that there was no proof of a conspiracy between Trump’s campaign and the Russian government, although it indicated that there was efforts from Kremlin to influence the election.

The new wave of accusations was catalyzed by an official statement released last Friday (18), in which Tulsi Gabbard, now head of national intelligence, claims to have “overwhelming evidence” that Obama and members of his office “manufactured and politicized intelligence” to undermine Trump’s legitimacy.
Former Democrat, Trump’s now allied, states that the movement was “a coup of years against the president-elect”, although it took place with the backing of intelligence agencies.
In response, Trump published on Sunday (20) a video with images generated by artificial intelligence in which Obama appears being taken under FBI agents. The publication was made at Truth Social, its main social network.
